Corstorphine Fair 2010
Well the 2010 Corstorphine Fair is all over, I have mixed feelings of relief and euphoria. The weather was perfect (perhaps a tad too hot) to pull the crowds in, with a beautiful shower to cool things down at the end and send the stragglers home, so we could get cleared up.
It did seem to go well, and I have already heard of some fantastic sums being raised by various groups, certainly we did well on the rides, programme sales and donations. Obviously, we would like to get all the accounts up to date and pay our bills so please could you send a cheque made out to:
‘The Corstorphine Fair’ for your 20% net profit contribution to:
Mrs P Salton,
7 Featherhall Crescent North,
Edinburgh, EH12.
As most of you know the Fair could not happen without your contribution, despite the Committee’s best efforts with sponsorship, programme sales etc the money raised still doesn’t cover the total outlay. It is our intention this year as well as lodging our accounts in the Library for inspection to follow our Westminster MP’s example and place them on-line for full scrutiny.
Just to confirm, that is 20% of your net profit, that is once all your expenses have been deducted. You can include your Booking Fee (£20) and any table and chairs you hired. For example The Rotary Club of Corstorphine took in £855 on the day, but spent £10 on sponges, £15 on cricket balls, £20 on the pitch booking fee, and hired one table £7 and one chair £3. A total of £55 in expenses leaving £800 net profit, therefore sending a cheque for £160 to us.
If, as hoped, we exceed our outlays we will, as usual, seek local groups to redistribute the excess funds to, and are happy to receive requests to be considered.
Thank you for taking part , I hope you enjoyed it and please thank all your stewards who were invaluable to us and did a fantastic job, the Fair just couldn’t function without them.
Roll on 2012.
Pictures of the 2010 Fair will appear in the Picture Gallery in due course.
